The
Oconee Bowling Association is proud to recognize Donnie Chastain as
the 2008-2009 Bowler of the Year. Donnie has a long list of
accomplishments in his bowling resume. This year, Donnie shot the
first 300 game of the season. He currently averages 214 on Wednesday
and 223 on Thursday night. On Thursday night, he has helped the team
of Chastain Masonry to a third round victory and a spot in the Queen
City Roll-off. He anchors the Wednesday night team of Thunder Rolls
and is in contention for a league champion ship on Wednesday Night.
He is a member of the Championship team in the Third Annual Oconee
Bowling Association Championship Tournament and a runner-up finish
in the state tournament, where he won the handicap singles division
with a score of 860. Because of Donnie’s bowling accomplishments and
respect of the bowling community, it is with great pleasure that the
Oconee Bowling Association presents Donnie Chastain as the 2008-2009
Bowler of the Year. |

Pete
Thoma 2008 - 2009

The Oconee Bowling Association is
proud to recognize Pete Thoma as the 2008-2009 Senior Bowler of the
Year. Pete began bowling in the Monday Night Church League during
the 1990-1991 season. Beginning in the 1991-1992 season, Pete has
served a secretary of the Monday Night Church League. Pete is a
regular participant in the Annual Championship Tournament. Over the
years, Pete has rolled a 700 series in the Monday Night Church
League and had the high average multiple times. Each year Pete
organizes the end of the year Youth Lock in at Oconee Lanes. Because
of Pete’s commitment to our sport, on lane accomplishments,
contribution of time and talent, and with the respect of the bowling
community, it is with great pleasure that the Oconee Bowling
Association recognizes Pete Thoma as the Senior Bowler of the Year.

Becky
Craft 2008 - 2009
Secretary of the Year |

The
Oconee Bowling Association is proud to present the 2008-2009
Secretary of the Year to Becky Craft. Becky has currently serves as
the secretary of both the Thursday Night Mixed League and the
Wednesday Morning Glories. Becky has served as both a director and
association secretary. Because of Becky’s commitment to our sport
and the outstanding manner in which she carries out the duties of
secretary, the Oconee Bowling Association recognizes Becky as the
2008-2009 Secretary of the Year. |

Jerry L. Campbell 2008 -2009
John
“Tonto” Hunter Distinguished Service Award |

`In
years past, the Oconee Bowling Association has presented an award to
the Director of the Year. This year, the award has been changed and
renamed the John “Tonto” Hunter Distinguished Service Award. This
award will only be presented to someone who demonstrated the
passion, willingness to work and enthusiasm that John Hunter showed
and gave. This year the Oconee Bowling Association is proud to
present the first John “Tonto” Hunter Distinguished Service Award to
Jerry L. Campbell. Jerry’s commitment to not only our association,
but to our sport is exceptional. Jerry has served the local
association as secretary/manager for 29 years. During this time, he
has served as a state director and state president. He has been
awarded the secretary of the year award by both the Upstate USBC
Bowling Association and the TCBA (Traveling Classic Bowling
Association). In 2005 Jerry was inducted into the South Carolina
Bowling Hall of Fame and in 2008 he became the second inductee into
the Oconee Bowling Association Hall of Fame. It is with great
pleasure that the Oconee Bowling Association presents the first John
“Tonto” Hunter Distinguished Award to Jerry L. Campbell. |
