Oconee USBC Bowling Association Annual Awards

Chuck Anderson  2009 - 2010 Bowler of the Year

The Oconee Bowling Association is proud to recognize Chuck Anderson as the 2009-2010 Bowler of the Year. Chuck Anderson combines bowling ability with good sportsmanship. Chuck carries a 230 average and was the All-Events Scratch Champion of the fourth Annual Oconee Bowling Association Championship Tournament with a total score of 2.173 for a tournament average of 241. Chuck has also shot a 299 game this year Because of Chuck’s bowling accomplishments and respect of the bowling community, it is with great pleasure that the Oconee Bowling Association recognizes Chuck Anderson as the 2009-2010 Bowler of the Year.

James Benson 2009 - 2010 Senior Bowler of the Year

The Oconee Bowling Association is proud to recognize James Benson as the 2009-2010 Senior Bowler of the Year. James or “Mr. B” as he is known is a respected member of the Tuesday Night Industrial League and the Thursday Night Mixed League.

Because of his commitment to our sport and with the respect of the bowling community, it is with great pleasure that the Oconee Bowing Association recognizes James “Mr. B” Benson as the 2009-2010 Senior Bowler of the year.

Pete Thoma 2009 - 2010 Secretary of the Year

The Oconee Bowling Association is proud to present the 2009-2010 Secretary of the Year to Pete Thoma. Pete is finishing his twentieth year as a member of Monday Night Church League and his nineteenth year as secretary. The Monday Night Church League is the largest league at Oconee Lanes, due to the recruitment and retention of bowlers. Pete does an outstanding job of adding to the league with prize nights, special events, and tournaments within the league that run over several weeks. Each year Pete organizes the end of the year Youth Lock in at Oconee Lanes. With this award, Pete becomes the only two time award winner. Pete was named Secretary of the Year for the 2006-2007 season. Because of Pete’s commitment to our sport and the outstanding manner in which he carries out the duties of secretary, the Oconee Bowling Association recognizes Pete Thoma as the 2009-2010 Secretary of the Year.

John “Tonto” Hunter Distinguished Service Award

In years past, the Oconee Bowling Association has presented an award to the Director of the Year. In 2008, the award was changed and renamed the John “Tonto” Hunter Distinguished Service Award. This award will only be presented to someone who demonstrated the passion, willingness to work and enthusiasm that John Hunter showed and gave. This year the Oconee Bowling Association is proud to present the second John “Tonto” Hunter Distinguished Service Award to Mike Adams. Mike displays the same unselfish characteristics and dedication not only to the Oconee Bowling Association, but to bowling that John Hunter always did. Mike is always willing to assist with any tournament or committee assignment. Mike bowled for many years in both the Monday Industrial League and the Monday Night Church League. It is with great pleasure that the Oconee Bowling Association presents the 2009-2010 John “Tonto” Hunter Distinguished Award to Mike Adams.
